Its a harsh mistress..

February 20, 2008 2:39 pm

So I bought one of these around Christmas, and let me say that in heart-rate mode, its a harsh mistress..   Except for a too-long period where we were painting the bedroom, I’ve been trying to keep up the 30-minutes a day 5-days a week routine.

Its ability to just ramp-up tension to keep your target heart rate even is cool, but I’m finding unforgiving.  Its been fun to watch it seriously ramp-up the tension compared to where I started, just to keep my heart rate up to target.  (That’s a fair sign of how out of shape I was).

In the end I like it..  nice thing to spend money on..

Composter fun…

February 8, 2008 11:23 pm

I don’t post much any more..  too busy and nothing much to say that anybody would care to hear…

Latest fun?  Michele found a nice automatic composter on the web, via some book called the lazy environmentist (I think).  Its made by Naturemill and while its a bit spendy for its production materials, its amazing so-far at its ability to quickly render food items down to darn near nothing…  I’ll have to post a picture of it later.

It’ll be interesting to see how well it holds up.

Tek / Danaher

October 17, 2007 5:51 pm

I don’t post much, but if you hadn’t noticed, Danaher has made a tender-offer to buy out Tek.

Its difficult to say what this will really mean for Tek.  Everybody has their own view, and then there’s the corporate Koolaid.  One thing’s clear..  next year will be an interesting year…  at least for as long as Danaher and I mutually agree to work together.

One somewhat nice thing, is part of the tender-off appears to include a clause to buy-out some non-vested shares employees have, up to a certain limit.  So..  I’ll at least get a little bonus windfall to play with.  (Or part with..   who knows).

‘May you live in interesting times.

Awareness…

August 9, 2007 7:58 am

You ever had an odd day, where for the first time in 18 months, you finally notice something as simple as a lamp, and wonder where it came from and how you managed to never notice it for so long?

Ya, I’m having a day like that.  Somehow, it seems it can only end very good, or very bad…  (and yes, I know it sounds like something some kid on acid would say.  Unless Java nation’s putting new stuff in mindsweeper’s, thats not it).

Accomplishments of the week

July 10, 2007 9:06 pm

1.)  Got a mailbox at postal annex for shippments and mail.  [easier then delivering to home or getting warned not to mail crap to work]

2.) Mailed the D70s back to Nikon

3.) Got the jeep serviced and had the ‘firmware updated’ for ’shifting performance.  (I complained about some stuff).  ‘its mildly interesting & concerning at the same time that firmware is important to the shifting performance of my Jeep.

*sigh*

July 8, 2007 10:47 am

My Nikon D70s died saturday with the internal mirror-flap stuck in the ‘up’ position and all electronics dead.

*sigh*.   Time to see if the extended Nikon warranty I have pays off….
